Head, Body, Heart the focus of Karratha’s Youth Week

Karratha's Youth Week celebrations will feature a range of free events that will encourage everyone to check in with their head, body and heart.

Youth Week WA  occurs once annually and is the biggest celebration of young people and in the Western Australia youth calendar.

This year Youth Week will run from 5 –12 April with the theme 'Head, Body, Heart', serving as a reminder to check in with our head, body and heart, and extending that care to others.

The City in consultation with the Youth Advisory Group have developed a schedule of free events and workshops to celebrate young people living within the City of Karratha.

From skate competitions and workshops, outdoor movies and laser tag to urban dance and circus workshops there is something for everyone.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the City is excited to facilitate a diverse range of activities for youth to participate in and engage with this year’s theme.

“Youth Week is one of a number of initiatives the City is engaged in to empower and support the growth of our young people,” Cr Scott said.

“It’s important for everyone in our community, but especially our youth, to check in with themselves and their friends.

“We know from our Community Survey activities for youth is a high priority for residents and this is one of the ways we are delivering more things to do for young people.”

Cr Scott said events would be held across Karratha, Wickham, Dampier, and Roebourne.

“We have a wide range of activities designed to promote creativity, compassion, and encourage us to be our best and most authentic selves, and I encourage the youth in our community to take part,” Cr Scott said.
