Councillor Roots has been an active Council member since October 2023 and is committed to leading with integrity and honesty, bringing a strong focus on community wellbeing, whole-of-life services and arts and culture.

Alongside her civic role, Cr Roots is a curator and creative director with extensive experience in regional leadership. She has delivered major projects including the Cossack Art Awards education program, exhibition management at the Red Earth Arts Precinct, and currently serves as Lead Curator for the Regional Arts Triennial. Locally, Cr Roots initiatives such as community-led art projects, place activations, and volunteer programs, strengthen social and emotional wellbeing and celebrate local talent.

Achievements include raising her young family with her Husband in Karratha, being recognised as the KDCCI Best Young Business Achiever in 2023, volunteering with Karratha Family Centre, local primary school P&C Committee and multi-award-winning organisation Val & Kathy's Crafty Kitchen. These experiences have shaped her belief in the importance of being within community, and the power of human connection to foster social wellbeing and resilience.

Cr Roots is dedicated to serving the community and advocating for initiatives that improve quality of life for all ages and abilities. Whether supporting youth and seniors programs, promoting cultural events, or encouraging grassroots creativity, she strives to ensure Karratha continues to thrive as a vibrant, inclusive, and inspiring city.
