Christmas on the Green to launch Karratha festivities

It’s beginning to feel like Christmas in Karratha, with the upcoming Christmas on the Green to kickstart the festive season.

Held at the Red Earth Arts Precinct on December 1 at 5pm, the Christmas on the Green will feature a raft of festive activities, including arts & crafts, games, roving elves, face painting, and the KDCCI Christmas Markets in the Foyer.

Santa will then appear to turn the lights on the Sharpe Ave Light Walk at 7.30pm and lead a walk to The Quarter for the night's final hour.

Christmas on the Green is supported by event sponsors Rio Tinto, Santos, Horizon Power, Fortescue, Cleanaway, Pilbara Traffic Management.

The Christmas on the Green event marks the beginning of the Karratha Festive season, with the Sharpe Avenue Christmas lights to light up the street from 7pm-10pm every night through to Christmas Day.

Entries are also open for the 2023 City of Karratha Christmas Lights Competition, sponsored by Horizon Power, and close November 23.

This year is set to be bigger than ever with three great Try Local vouchers up for grabs:  $2000 first prize, $1000 second prize, and $2000 people’s choice.

City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott encouraged locals to come to the Red Earth Arts Precinct and participate in the merriment.

“Christmas on the Green kicks off our festive season, and is the perfect opportunity for children to meet Santa during his visit from the North Pole, before he leads the walk to The Quarter” Cr Scott said.

“We have several fantastic events as part of our Christmas calendar including the Christmas Lights Competition, amazing activations at The Quarter, and the Seniors Christmas Lunches on December 6 at Luce Bar e Cibo and December 8 at the Roebourne PCYC.

“Christmas is a chance for our community to come together and celebrate, so take the opportunity to participate in our action-packed calendar.”
