The City of Karratha has shortlisted a respondent to develop a Hotel at the Quarter following a competitive Expressions of Interest process.
Following the EOI process, which attracted four credible submissions from experienced development organisations, Council shortlisted Centurion Properties’ proposal.
Centurion Properties are proposing a 125 room hotel, with amenities to service tourism, business and key worker accommodation.
The hotel would also feature a bar or lounge, restaurant, flexible meeting rooms, fitness centre, and outdoor seating.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said the City would now assess the shortlisted proposal.
"The Expression of Interest process attracted four credible submissions, demonstrating there is market interest in the future of this site," Mayor Scott said.
"Council's role now is to carefully assess the shortlisted proposal through a detailed due diligence and negotiation process before making a final decision.
"This process will allow Council to determine whether a hotel development is the best outcome for the site and provide clarity on its future use."
The site, at Lot 7078 Sharpe Avenue, forms part of the wider Quarter precinct and was acquired by the City from DevelopmentWA in 2018, under the condition the site be used for a hotel development.
