The City of Karratha has opened a new round of applications for the Service Worker Accommodation initiative and is encouraging people to apply.
The Service Worker Accommodation initiative is a joint partnership between the City of Karratha, Woodside and Rio Tinto which provides 66 dwellings to workers providing services to our local community.
The program provides workers with affordable housing for a range of eligible industries including health services, education, and retail.
Applications are currently open to fill a small number of dwellings which have become vacant.
City of Karratha Mayor Daniel Scott said providing affordable housing was vital to ensuring Karratha was a liveable city.
“Service worker accommodation is housing in Karratha priced similar to what you would find in a capital city,” Cr Scott said.
“It’s important for businesses to be able to employ staff at a reasonable rate and to do that you have to have reasonably priced accommodation and that is what the City of Karratha, Rio Tinto, and Woodside is offering,” he said.
“We want Karratha to be Australia’s most liveable regional city and to achieve this, workers that provide vital services to our community must be able to afford to live here.”
“The Service Worker Accommodation joint initiative is a key part of achieving this vision.”
Cr Scott encouraged eligible businesses and employees to apply.
